How Demi Moore Went From Hollywood's Highest Paid Actress To Hospitalization

$

Demi Moore

In the 1980s, a young Demi Moore quickly turned her "General Hospital" TV stardom into a full fledged movie career that made her one of the top actors of the decade, part of a group the media dubbed the Brat Pack.

By 1990, with a $12 million per film paycheck, Moore was the highest paid actress in Hollywood and remained so with box office hits such as "Ghost,""A Few Good Men" and "G.I. Jane."

After marrying husband number two, Bruce Willis, in 1987, the couple had three daughters together and enjoyed a family life outside of Hollywood at their shared Idaho home.

With the break up of their marriage in 1998, Moore re-entered Hollywood as a hot mama, taking on roles such as a scorned, seriously toned angel in 2003's "Charlie's Angels" and dating a slew of younger men in her personal life.

In 2003, Moore met Ashton Kutcher, sixteen years her junior, and surprised everyone when their 2005 marriage lasted a whopping six years—until it came crashing down in late 2011 amidst rumors that Kutcher was cheating.

Since then, Moore has been on an apparent downward spiral that last week landed her in the hospital.

But whether it's a "Striptease" for theater-goers or her Twitter followers, we know Demi Moore is always good for a bikini-clad comeback and we're rooting for her to get well soon.

1976: After moving nearly 40 times throughout her childhood, Demi's family settles in Los Angeles. After attending Fairfax High School for a brief time, she drops out at age 16 to become an actress.

1980: At age 18, Demi married singer Freddy Moore and changes her name from Demi Guynes to Demi Moore.

1981: Demi makes her film debut in "Choices," a deaf teen drama in which she plays a football player's girlfriend.

Leading Ladies Who Dared To Bare Their Bald Heads

They say if you want to win an Oscar, you better dramatically alter your appearance.

Charlize Theron in "Monster"ring any bells?

And what better way for a beauty-obsessed actress to show the world she's willing to commit to a  role 100 percent than for her to shave off her beloved, well-kept locks?

"Sex and the City" actress Cynthia Nixonjust shaved her head for her role in "Wit" on Broadway, Demi Moore did it in "G.I. Jane" and Natalie Portman went all the way for "V for Vendetta."

Others such as Sinéad O'Connor and Amber Rose just feel most comfortable with a no-fuss head—and then there's Britney Spears.

Cynthia Nixon

Cynthia Nixondebuted her new bald 'do on "Live! with Kelly" last month. Though Nixon did battle breast cancer in real life, the actress chose to shave her head for her new role of a cancer stricken poetry professor in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of "Wit."

"I thought it was kind of going to be no muss-no fuss, but I have to shave it every day!" Nixon revealed to Kelly Ripa on the morning talk show. "I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like...I like it, but I don't think I'm gonna keep it forever."

Demi Moore

Demi Moore shed her famous, long, brunette locks for the chance to kick butt with the guys in the 1997 film "G.I. Jane" directed by Ridley Scott. The role was a huge switch from her previous work in "Striptease" or "Ghost, " but it garnered Demi a lot of attention for still managing to look so good with no hair.

Cameron Diaz

She didn't technically shave her head, but Cameron Diaz did don a bald cap for her heart-wrenching role in 2009's "My Sister's Keeper."

30 Of Your Favorite Celebrities Are Turning 50 In 2012

50 Years Old Celebs

It seems like just yesterday Tom Cruise was dancing around in his skivvies in 1983's "Risky Business,"Jim Carrey was just "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" and Demi Moore was married to Bruce Willis and living in Idaho with three young children.

My how the times have changed!

2012 has already seen the downfall of Demi's health but also the huge success of Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," the highest-earning film of his career.

Film and television celebs from Steve Carell and Paula Abdul to directors David Fincher and Baz Luhrman are all turning the big 5-0 this year.

But age hasn't held these stars back.

January 17: Jim Carrey

Who thought the “resident white guy” on “In Living Color” in 1990 would evolve into such a comedy star?

From his humble beginnings in Canada, Jim Carrey worked his way up to sitcom star and is now a bankable movie star with hits like “Bruce Almighty,” “Liar Liar,” and “Ace Ventura” to his name, as well as more dramatic, critical hits such as “The Truman Show” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

His hilarious"Black Swan" parody from an episode of last season's "Saturday Night Live" doesn’t hurt his rep either.

February 6: Axl Rose

Axl Rose is best known for his creation of the legendary band Guns N’ Roses in 1985.

But arguably even more well-known than the band’s music is the controversy that followed them. Rose has fans and enemies thanks to the ousting of members and the disintegration of the band during the worldwide tour of their second album “Use Your Illusion.” Rose went into hiding for several years and finally re-emerged with a new Guns N’ Roses band that, surprisingly, wasn’t awful. You've got to give it to the guy, he never quits.

February 7: Garth Brooks

Considered to be one of the most popular and iconic country singers of all time, Garth Brooks has a gigantic following and no shortage of awards to his credit.

He's been singing since 1989, when his first self-titled album debuted. He says he’s “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” but hopefully his feelings don’t deter him from making more honky-tonk and old-school country fusion hits for ages to come.

And he even has the president's seal of approval.

Sarah Jessica Parker replaced Demi Moore in the role of Gloria Steinem in the movie Lovelace after Moore's 911 incident and subsequent trip to rehab.

SPJ who quickly jumped at the opportunity to portray the iconic feminist is now regretting her decision.

"I didn't have the right amount of time to think about it properly," says Parker. "Had I, I probably would have said no."

SJP was clearly uncomfortable talking about the Lovelace movie with Entertainment Tonight. Watch below.

It looks like it might be burlesque model Dita Von Teese, but in fact that is the face of Demi Moore, the star of Margin Call and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

It's part of a new campaign for the Helena Rubinstein makeup brand, and in each ad Moore—who at 49 remains one of Hollywood's distinctive beauties—looks like a plastic mannequin.

Helena Rubinstein has done this before. Back in 2010 the company similarly transformed Moore from an attractive human being into a cyborg from the uncanny valley.

Here Are The Most Unrecognizable Photoshopped Celebrities

jennifer-aniston-demi-moore

This post originally appeared at StyleCaster.

When millions of little girls across the world flip through their mommy’s magazines to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities, they’re often dumbfounded by how perfect they look. This will of course lead to lives of eating disorders, rampant self-esteem issues and the ultimate realization that they will just never measure up — all caused by a glorious thing we like to callairbrushing.

Airbrushing, or photo retouching, is an essential part of this industry. I don’t think any female celebs are okay with their image running au naturel. Everyone needs to feel pretty, and technology has made this a reality. Now, let me just say that I’m not judging anyone. If I was being photographed for something that would reach a greater audience than my immediate Facebook network, I would be a f*cking nightmare. First of all, I wouldn’t eat for months (thus sending the french fry industry into immediate peril), and I would hire the most expensive retoucher out of pocket to guarantee that I looked like a prince.

Regardless, many people take issue with airbrushing since it perpetuates myths that everyone famous is perfect. And also, sometimes it just looks completely ridiculous. That said, click through the gallery above for some of the most unrecognizable airbrushing jobs in Hollywood history. Let us know if there is anyone we missed!

Demi Moore's just released campaign for Helena Rubinstein has received a ton of backlash in the press. The fresh out of rehab star doesn't have a SINGLE wrinkle, and frankly looks like an alien.

Christina Aguilera looks impossibly thin here — and people didn't let it slide.

The gorgeous Amanda Seyfriend wasn't looking exactly like herself on this issue of Glamour.

The Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces In Hollywood

$
0
0

Kim-Kardashian, Kris-Humphries

It seems in Hollywood nothing is as perfect and glossy as it appears from the outside—including marriage.

Today Hollywood marriages often imply a whirlwind romance, lavish wedding ceremony, and quickie divorce. (Kim Kardashian, anyone?)

Actor/comedian Robin Williams once said, "Ah yes, divorce ... from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man's genitals through his wallet." Williams' two high-profile divorces cost him over $20 million, causing him to be quite the cynic about divorce proceedings.

As we saw with Heidi Klum and Seal's separation, a once amicable separation can quickly turn into a vicious and prolonged battle at the mere mention of money. It is reported that Seal is now after half of Heidi's hard earned $70 million fortune.

$70 Million fortune in jeopardy: Heidi Klum and Seal

Their 2012 break up was initially amicable, supermodel Heidi Klum filed for divorce from singer Seal, her husband of seven years. But since then, the divorce has become bitter and Seal, who is worth around $15 million, is reportedly after half of Heidi's $70 million fortune.

$45 Million: Michael Douglas and Diandra Douglas

When Michael Douglas was just a 19-year-old struggling actor, he met Georgetown student Diandra Luker at a Jimmy Carter inauguration party in 1977. Six weeks later, the new couple wed.

21 years after the couple tied the knot and after Douglas rose to worldwide fame, Douglas and Luker divorced. She got to keep $45 million, and a home in both Beverly Hills and Majorca.

Douglas wed actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000.

$48.6 Million: Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

The 2008 divorce between Heather Mills and ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney awarded the former model $48.6 million. It pays to be powerful—this figure was $201 million less than what the former model asked for.

There's nothing more annoying—or awkward to set straight—than people mispronouncing your name.

But, what happens when you're a celebrity and millions of people are saying your name wrong every day?

We're not talking about hard-to-pronounce, consonant-filled tongue-twisters. We're looking at commonplace names.

Not every name in Hollywood is as easy to pronounce as, say, Fergie

And although Rihanna's name is ubiquitous, the majority of us aren't even saying it right.

Here are the most commonly mispronounced names in Hollywood.

You may think it sounds how it looks, but that's not the case. Some people say Ralph "Fee-ehn." It's actually ...

Scout WillisBruce Willis and Demi Moore's 20-year-old daughter, Scout LaRue Willis, was arrested Monday afternoon for underage drinking.

Willis, who is a student at Brown University, was caught with an open 8 oz. Pakistani beer in Union Square.

When a police officer asked for identification, Willis handed over a fake ID with the name "Katherine Kelly" before revealing her real identity.

Willis was then cited for misdemeanor criminal impersonation and open container law violation. She was released without bail early Tuesday morning but is due for a court appearance on July 31.

Willis' troubles come just a few months after her mother Demi left rehab following a seizure at home while partying with a group of friends and her oldest daughter, Rumer.

Count Tallulah Willis—Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' 18-year-old daughter—among the list of stars like Miley Cyrus, Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson to be at the center of a nude photo scandal.

"Four pictures, allegedly of Willis, who turned 18 on February 3, are being offered for sale, showing Tallulah fully topless, mugging for the camera and toking on what appears to be a joint," RadarOnline is reporting.

Last year, Tallulah was cited for underage drinking in Hollywood while last month, her 20-year-old sister Scout was arrested in New York City for underage drinking and then handing the cop a fake ID. She is due in court July 31.

It has been a tough year for the Willis-Moore clan, after Demi split with husband Ashton Kutcher and found herself in rehab.

And news of Kutcher's new romance with Mila Kunis isn't helping matters either, as Life&Style is reporting Moore is “spiraling downward again” after learning of her estranged husband's “new romance” with Kunis.

16 Celebrities Who Started Their Careers In Finance

They have worked as pen salesmen, hawkers, cookie scoopers, ballet dancers, firefighters, professional soccer players, shoe salesmen, restaurant hostesses, lion cage tenders, lifeguards, mascots, bellhops and telemarketers. Think of any role and they have done it. These men and women have undertaken different jobs to stay afloat before becoming celebrities. (For related reading, see Winning Celebrities And The Companies They Endorse.)

TUTORIAL: Financial Careers

Some celebrities worked in finance before they became rich and famous. Some worked part-time jobs, while others worked full-time. Here are some of the notable ones.

Whoopi Goldberg is an American comedian, actress, singer-songwriter, political activist, author and a talk show host. She sustained herself while looking for acting jobs by working as a bank teller, a bricklayer and a cosmetologist at a mortuary.

Raymond Albert "Ray" Romano is an American actor, writer and stand-up comedian. He studied to become an accountant, and then worked as a bank teller where he met his wife Anna.

Red Foo, one half of the party rock band LMFAO, was tracking stocks as a kid under his father Barry Gordon's guidance. Before he made the room groove, he held a job as a day trader. He still invests, though his portfolio has become less risky. He believes that Apple's stock is a big winner.

Erin Isabelle Burnett is the anchor of CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront." She was the co-anchor of CNBC's "Squawk On The Street" program and the host of CNBC's "Street Signs" program. Burnett began her career as a financial analyst for Goldman Sachs in investment banking. Her work included the areas of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. (To learn more, check out Biggest Merger And Acquisition Disasters.)

Timothy Maxwell"Max" Keiser is an American broadcaster and film-maker. He was the co-founder of the Hollywood Stock Exchange. He has worked in finance for about 25 years and started his career as a stock broker on Wall Street.

Method Actor
Shia Labeouf
isn't leaving his day job … yet. He got hooked on trading stocks while he worked on his movie "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." Preparing for his role at John Thomas Financial, he managed to turn his $20,000 to around $489,000, extending his midas touch from movies to finance.

Lou Dobbs is an American journalist, radio host, television host on the Fox Business Network and author. Dobbs worked as a cash-management specialist for Union Bank in Los Angeles after graduating from Harvard University.

Martha Stewart made her millions teaching us how to bake and decorate homes better. She started her career as a stock broker in New York.

The iconic Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) worked as an insurance salesman before his famed career as founder of KFC.

It is difficult to imagine Demi Moore the star of "Indecent Proposal,""GI Jane" and "Striptease" as an employee in a debt collection agency, but she did.

Moving up the Ladder
Former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina, started out as a secretary and then moved into a broker position at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, a commercial real estate brokerage firm.

Brett Ratner, director of the "Rush Hour" movies, worked as a stockbroker at South Richmond Securities on Wall Street.

Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand worked as a foreign exchange dealer at Elders Finance in Wellington, before rising to be head foreign exchange trader in two short years. He has also served as Merrill Lynch's head of foreign exchange. He chose to jump from the high volatility of the world of finance to the more volatile field of politics.

Former British Prime Minister Sir John Major took a correspondence course in banking after being passed over for a bus conductor's job. He joined as a junior executive at Standard Chartered Bank before moving up the ladder.

Rick Yune the handsome, chilling villain from "Die Another Day" was not new to taking risks, having been a hedge fund trader post graduating from Wharton Business School. At the age of 21, he joined as a trainee at a hedge fund. When it was relatively difficult for a newbie to land a role in a hedge fund, he found it "humbling" to be entrusted with so much responsibility. He also enjoyed the role for its risk and not knowing what to expect next. He, however, was more attracted to the calling of acting.

Michael Roiff, the independent film producer, initially started his career in the world of finance. He briefly worked as a management consultant at CIBC World Markets and The Parthenon Group before he set off to produce his first film "Waitress" in 2007.

The Bottom Line
Before the big bucks and glamour, these celebrities worked at regular white collar jobs, like a lot of us. They were ready to work many jobs to land the one they loved. You never know when the spotlight will shine on you! (For additional reading, check out Celebrities You Can Bank On.)
