935 Hillsboro Mile Hillsboro Beach, FLWhen it comes to the most expensive homes in the US, there are only a handful of cities in the game. And behind each lavish listing is a rich and famous homeowner like Demi Moore, Tommy Hilfiger, or Steve Cohen.

Using data from Zillow and StreetEasy, part of Zillow Group, the largest real estate network on the web, we've narrowed in on America's 15 most expensive listings. As expected, the third most expensive real estate market in the world, New York City, makes a strong showing, but not strong enough to scoop the top spot — which is reserved for an idyllic, 1930s estate in the Hamptons.

Keep scrolling to see the gorgeous homes and find out who's selling them.

Celebrities in California including Demi Moore mistakenly registered with an ultraconservative political party

demi moore

It turns out the likes of Emma Stone, Kaley Cuoco, Demi Moore, and Sugar Ray Leonard are all registered members of a small conservative party in California, despite having politics that don't align with the group.

According to a Los Angeles Times phone survey of 500 members of the party, nearly three out of four did not realize they had enrolled in a political party that opposes abortion rights and same-sex marriage, and is for a fence to be built along the US border.

The reason for all the confusion is the party's name, American Independent Party (AIP). If voters don't want to be affiliated with a party, they will often check off where it says "independent." But in California, you must check a box on a registration form that says "no party preference."

“Demi Moore is not, nor has ever been, a member of the American Independent Party,” Moore's rep told the paper. “Any record that states otherwise is a mistake.”

Moore has contributed money to and campaigned for President Barack Obama.

“The views of this party do not accurately reflect my personal beliefs and I am not affiliated with any political party,” Cuoco, known for her role on “The Big Bang Theory,” said in a statement to the Times. “As such, I am taking the necessary steps to immediately remove my name as a member of this voting party.”

The highly conservative AIP dates back to 1967, when segregationist and former Democrat George Wallace launched his second run for the White House and created a new party in the process. The party now only exists in California.

Of people surveyed in the Times poll, fewer than 4 percent could correctly identify their own registration as a member of the American Independent Party. According to the Secretary of State's Office, the party has about 472,000 members, or 2.7 percent of the statewide total.

In one unsurprising finding, some voters who mistakenly registered with the party said they found the state's official registration materials confusing.

demi moore penthouse san remo

As of today, it has been one year since Demi Moore’s six-bedroom penthouse atop the San Remo building first hit the market with an astonishing $75 million asking price. If the 7,000-square-foot unit sells for anywhere near its asking price, it will smash the current $26.4 million sales record at the building.

Moore bought the penthouse in 1990 – the same year her movie "Ghost" grossed over $500 million at the box office – with her former beau Bruce Willis, along with a lobby-level, two-bedroom maisonette, which is included in the listing.

"We looked at everything on the park, Fifth Avenue, Central Park South and Central Park West, and there was just nothing like it," Moore told the New York Times last year. "The location, architecture and history of the San Remo were on a completely different level."

Moore certainly isn't the only celebrity to have graced the San Remo's oh-so-fancy terrazzo floors. Residents have included the likes of Tiger Woods, Steven Spielberg, Donna Karan, Dustin Hoffman, Diane Keaton and Rita Hayworth. Someone you definitely won’t see though is Madonna, who applied to buy an apartment in the building in 1985, but was rejected by the co-op board – despite its reputation for relatively lenient standards.

So to mark Moore’s listing anniversary, broker Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group gave LLNYC the grand tour of PH26C.

DON'T FORGET: Follow Business Insider's lifestyle page on Facebook!

Built in 1930, the San Remo at 145-146 Central Park West, nestled between 74th and 75th Streets, is arguably one of the most iconic buildings on the entire perimeter of Central Park. Designed by Emery Roth, the twin-peaked landmark is split between two separate entrances and two lobbies, in service of the individual towers.

But it's the south tower that holds the grandest residences, according to Modlin. That means that Moore's penthouse crowning the south tower, and stretching across the 26th, 27th and 28th floors, may just be the grandest of them all.

Enter the lobby at 145 Central Park West, waltz into one of the San Remo's gilded Art Deco elevators and exit on the 26th floor. This is "the public level" of Moore's triplex. The spacious living room enjoys three exposures, more than 20 feet of Central Park frontage and an impressive turquoise ceramic tile fireplace. The library sits on the southeast corner of the tower overlooking both Central Park and the city, and if you take a glance up to the ceiling you'll spot some of the San Remo’s original and elaborate plaster molding.

Off the library is the dining room with its huge and decadent crystal chandelier and an eat-in kitchen, which has views north to the George Washington Bridge.

One of the key benefits of living in a tower is not having to share any common walls. Modlin described it as, "living amongst the park and the sky."

Demi Moore has finally sold her elegant Upper West Side penthouse for $45 million

demi moore penthouse san remo

At long last actress Demi Moore has sold her triplex penthouse in the South Tower of the San Remo co-op on Central Park West.

Moore put the home on the market in 2015 at $75 million. She later cut that ask by $16 million and now has parted ways with the 17-room residence for just $45 million. That’s a big cut, but still enough to make it the priciest sale ever at the historic Westside building.

Adam Modlin brokered the sale and wasn’t immediately available for comment. The buyer was listed in property records as "M2 Trust."

In 2015, Moore told the New York Times she was selling the property because she never had time to stay there. "This apartment is too magnificent not to be lived in full time," she said.

Bruce Willis, Moore's ex-husband, is said to have paid about $7 million for the apartment more than 25 years ago, according to the Times.

LLNYC toured the penthouse when it was still on the market last year, and later published a comprehensive list of the apartment building's current residents, who are more likely to be titans of industry these days than stars of the silver screen.

Ashton Kutcher says he went into the mountains and fasted for a week after splitting with Demi Moore — and it's an odd but potentially effective way to get over a breakup

ashton kutcher demi moore

  • Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore divorced in 2013.
  • After the divorce, Kutcher went alone into the mountains and fasted for a week.
  • That might not be the best strategy to get over a breakup because it gives you lots of time to brood, and not many distractions.

Right after his divorce from Demi Moore in 2013, Ashton Kutcher took off for the mountains.

All he had with him were water, tea, a pen, and a notepad.

"I started hallucinating on like day two, which was fantastic," Kutcher told Dax Shepard on an episode of Shepard's podcast, "Armchair Expert.""I was doing tai chi with my own energy."

The post-divorce fast wasn't the first time Kutcher had experimented with alternative diets. While preparing to play Steve Jobs in the movie "Jobs," Kutcher copied Jobs' fruitarian diet for one month, meaning he ate fruit almost exclusively. Kutcher wound up in the hospital.

This time, hallucinations aside, Kutcher appeared to steer clear of the emergency ward. But it's unclear whether a solo retreat into the mountains — or the potentially more realistic week-living-on-your-couch — is the best way to recover after the end of a relationship.

We can't speculate beyond what Kutcher's said about his trek into the mountains, and everyone heals differently. But it's possible that isolating yourself completely the way Kutcher did would give you too much time and space to brood, and too few distractions.

Psychologist Melanie Greenberg writes in a blog post for Psychology Today that people getting over a breakup should "interrupt cycles of obsessive thinking and rumination. You may want to imagine a big red STOP sign when you start doing it, but don’t sit around moping about your ex."

And writer Katie Bogen, who experimented with multiple strategies to get over her own breakup, writes in Vox that reconnecting with friends was the single most effective way to feel better after her breakup — with investing all her energy in her work and career tended to be helpful, too.

Indeed, research suggests that brooding, in the form of simply journaling about your emotions surrounding the breakup, can make you feel worse— unless you're specifically writing about finding a silver lining in the experience.

Sometimes just trying to make yourself feel better after a breakup works

All that said, a 2017 study published in the Journal of Neuroscience suggests that, if you think a specific technique will help you feel better after a rough breakup, it probably will.

In that particular study, participants who used nasal spray and were told it would reduce their emotional pain indeed showed changes in their brain and reported feeling better. (In reality, the spray was a simple saline solution.)

Kutcher also used the solo time in the mountains to reflect on other relationships besides his marriage to Moore. He told Shepard that he wrote letters to every single person he'd been in a relationship with "where I felt like there was some grudge, some regret, some anything."

On the last day of the trip, he typed up the letters and sent them all. "It was like an AA [Alcoholics Anonymous] exercise," Kutcher said.

Demi Moore surprised ex-husband Bruce Willis during his Comedy Central roast

Demi Moore Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis

  • Bruce Willis was the guest for Comedy Central's latest roast.
  • His ex-wife and fellow Hollywood star Demi Moore surprised everyone with a set of jokes.
  • Moore made jabs about his baldness, their failed marriage, and his movie bombs.
  • Other roasters included Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Dennis Rodman, who was booed after making a joke about North Korea.
  • Willis took everything in stride and said he had a great evening.

As the focus of this year’s Comedy Central Roast, Bruce Willis was hit with repeated jabs about his age, his marriage, his Planet Hollywood business venture, his side music career and his recent string of less-than-spectacular films — and most of them came from the surprise appearance of ex-wife Demi Moore.

Saying that she was “married to Bruce for the first three ‘Die Hard’ movies, which makes sense because the last two sucked,” Moore served as an impromptu roaster as she recounted memories of raising their three daughters, who were also in attendance, together.

“People wonder why our marriage came to an end, and in all honesty I think it was because some jealousy started to creep in. I think Bruce never really got over the fact that I rocked the bald look better than he did,” Moore joked. “After our divorce, he said he considered the end of our marriage his biggest failure, but Bruce, don’t be so hard on yourself, you’ve had much bigger failures. I mean Planet Hollywood, ‘Hudson Hawk,’ ‘Striking Distance,’ campaigning for Michael Dukakis, turning down Clooney’s role in ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ to focus on playing the harmonica?”

Bruce Willis Comedy Central Roast

On a more sentimental note, the actress, who was married to Willis for 12 years, said their marriage included “some of the best times of my life,” praising him as “easily one of my top three husbands.” After the roast, Willis told reporters her performance was “terrific…very surprising and very cool,” and he was just as shocked as the audience about her appearance.

The roast, recorded Saturday at the Hollywood Palladium, was led by Roast Master Joseph Gordon-Levitt, along with an assorted group of roasters, including Edward Norton, Cybill Shepherd, Jeff Ross, Martha Stewart, Lil Rel Howery, Dennis Rodman, Kevin Pollak, Nikki Glaser and Dom Irrera.

Although still packed with burns on Willis and jokes against Donald Trump and Harvey Weinstein, the roast was more gentle and loving than most, with essentially all of the participants speaking on what the actor has meant to them.

Gordon-Levitt, who played a younger version of Willis in their film “Looper,” told Variety that Willis asked him personally to host, and when prepping the material he “worked with the writers and said yes sometimes, said no a lot more.”

“I was like ‘That’s not funny, that’s not funny, that’s not funny, that’s pretty funny.’ We’re just trying to make each other laugh, I actually think that there’s something cool about being able to laugh at yourself, not take things too seriously and I think it can be sort of cathartic,” Gordon-Levitt said.

joseph gordon levitt

Norton and Shepherd walked away as the big winners of the night, with Norton’s bit focusing on how his and Willis’ careers have differed, questioning, “You get away with everything. Can I cock my eye and say some cryptic s— that literally not one person in the room understands and have everyone laugh their asses off? I cannot.”

After continually trying to understand Willis’ success (joking it was somehow in spite of poor scripts and repeatedly doing the same type of film), Norton reflected on working with him on a recent movie, saying, “I love you, or maybe I’m a very good actor and I’m just acting when I say that. You wouldn’t know the difference, and that’s the reason I love you.”

Shepherd, who starred alongside “Moonlighting” with Willis and infamously fought with the actor on the project, said she hadn’t spoken to him in three decades but still agreed to be a roaster.

“Our characters on ‘Moonlighting’ weren’t much of a stretch,” she said. “I played a former model, which I was, and he played an a–hole, which he is… I know we haven’t had a conversation in 30 years but we’ll always have something more important: residuals.”

Rodman, who attempted a pro-North Korea joke, was booed on stage, and Ross, who is also a co-executive producer on the show, arrived at the event dressed as Kim Jong-Un.

After the taping, Ross said he “felt like this was a classier roast than we normally do. I thought it was pretty classy, he’s a movie star we classed it up with tuxedos and Martha Stewart.”

When it came for his time to speak on stage, Willis said, “If you’re a fan of Bruce Willismovies and I know you are, then you know how this works. I get the s— beat out of me for about an hour and a half, and then at the end I come back and whip everybody’s a–,” proceeding to roast his roasters.

He ended by clarifying why he subjected himself to be the subject of a roast, which he said was to settle something once and for all: “‘Die Hard’ is not a Christmas movie. It’s a god damn Bruce Willis movie!”

Following the event, Willis teased that he “thought I dislocated my jaw because I was laughing so hard.”

The “Comedy Central Roast of Bruce Willis” airs on the network July 29 at 10 p.m.

30 Of Your Favorite Celebrities Are Turning 50 In 2012

50 Years Old Celebs

It seems like just yesterday Tom Cruise was dancing around in his skivvies in 1983's "Risky Business,"Jim Carrey was just "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" and Demi Moore was married to Bruce Willis and living in Idaho with three young children.

My how the times have changed!

2012 has already seen the downfall of Demi's health but also the huge success of Tom Cruise's "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," the highest-earning film of his career.

Film and television celebs from Steve Carell and Paula Abdul to directors David Fincher and Baz Luhrman are all turning the big 5-0 this year.

But age hasn't held these stars back.

January 17: Jim Carrey

Who thought the “resident white guy” on “In Living Color” in 1990 would evolve into such a comedy star?

From his humble beginnings in Canada, Jim Carrey worked his way up to sitcom star and is now a bankable movie star with hits like “Bruce Almighty,” “Liar Liar,” and “Ace Ventura” to his name, as well as more dramatic, critical hits such as “The Truman Show” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.”

His hilarious"Black Swan" parody from an episode of last season's "Saturday Night Live" doesn’t hurt his rep either.

February 6: Axl Rose

Axl Rose is best known for his creation of the legendary band Guns N’ Roses in 1985.

But arguably even more well-known than the band’s music is the controversy that followed them. Rose has fans and enemies thanks to the ousting of members and the disintegration of the band during the worldwide tour of their second album “Use Your Illusion.” Rose went into hiding for several years and finally re-emerged with a new Guns N’ Roses band that, surprisingly, wasn’t awful. You've got to give it to the guy, he never quits.

February 7: Garth Brooks

Considered to be one of the most popular and iconic country singers of all time, Garth Brooks has a gigantic following and no shortage of awards to his credit.

He's been singing since 1989, when his first self-titled album debuted. He says he’s “Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)” but hopefully his feelings don’t deter him from making more honky-tonk and old-school country fusion hits for ages to come.

And he even has the president's seal of approval.

Here Are The Most Unrecognizable Photoshopped Celebrities

This post originally appeared at StyleCaster.

When millions of little girls across the world flip through their mommy’s magazines to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities, they’re often dumbfounded by how perfect they look. This will of course lead to lives of eating disorders, rampant self-esteem issues and the ultimate realization that they will just never measure up — all caused by a glorious thing we like to callairbrushing.

Airbrushing, or photo retouching, is an essential part of this industry. I don’t think any female celebs are okay with their image running au naturel. Everyone needs to feel pretty, and technology has made this a reality. Now, let me just say that I’m not judging anyone. If I was being photographed for something that would reach a greater audience than my immediate Facebook network, I would be a f*cking nightmare. First of all, I wouldn’t eat for months (thus sending the french fry industry into immediate peril), and I would hire the most expensive retoucher out of pocket to guarantee that I looked like a prince.

Regardless, many people take issue with airbrushing since it perpetuates myths that everyone famous is perfect. And also, sometimes it just looks completely ridiculous. That said, click through the gallery above for some of the most unrecognizable airbrushing jobs in Hollywood history. Let us know if there is anyone we missed!

Demi Moore's just released campaign for Helena Rubinstein has received a ton of backlash in the press. The fresh out of rehab star doesn't have a SINGLE wrinkle, and frankly looks like an alien.

Christina Aguilera looks impossibly thin here — and people didn't let it slide.

The gorgeous Amanda Seyfriend wasn't looking exactly like herself on this issue of Glamour.

The Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces In Hollywood

$

0

Kim-Kardashian, Kris-Humphries

It seems in Hollywood nothing is as perfect and glossy as it appears from the outside—including marriage.

Today Hollywood marriages often imply a whirlwind romance, lavish wedding ceremony, and quickie divorce. (Kim Kardashian, anyone?)

Actor/comedian Robin Williams once said, "Ah yes, divorce ... from the Latin word meaning to rip out a man's genitals through his wallet." Williams' two high-profile divorces cost him over $20 million, causing him to be quite the cynic about divorce proceedings.

As we saw with Heidi Klum and Seal's separation, a once amicable separation can quickly turn into a vicious and prolonged battle at the mere mention of money. It is reported that Seal is now after half of Heidi's hard earned $70 million fortune.

$70 Million fortune in jeopardy: Heidi Klum and Seal

Their 2012 break up was initially amicable, supermodel Heidi Klum filed for divorce from singer Seal, her husband of seven years. But since then, the divorce has become bitter and Seal, who is worth around $15 million, is reportedly after half of Heidi's $70 million fortune.

$45 Million: Michael Douglas and Diandra Douglas

When Michael Douglas was just a 19-year-old struggling actor, he met Georgetown student Diandra Luker at a Jimmy Carter inauguration party in 1977. Six weeks later, the new couple wed.

21 years after the couple tied the knot and after Douglas rose to worldwide fame, Douglas and Luker divorced. She got to keep $45 million, and a home in both Beverly Hills and Majorca.

Douglas wed actress Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000.

$48.6 Million: Paul McCartney and Heather Mills

The 2008 divorce between Heather Mills and ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney awarded the former model $48.6 million. It pays to be powerful—this figure was $201 million less than what the former model asked for.

Scout WillisBruce Willis and Demi Moore's 20-year-old daughter, Scout LaRue Willis, was arrested Monday afternoon for underage drinking.

Willis, who is a student at Brown University, was caught with an open 8 oz. Pakistani beer in Union Square.

Count Tallulah Willis—Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' 18-year-old daughter—among the list of stars like Miley Cyrus, Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson to be at the center of a nude photo scandal.

"Four pictures, allegedly of Willis, who turned 18 on February 3, are being offered for sale, showing Tallulah fully topless, mugging for the camera and toking on what appears to be a joint," RadarOnline is reporting.

Last year, Tallulah was cited for underage drinking in Hollywood while last month, her 20-year-old sister Scout was arrested in New York City for underage drinking and then handing the cop a fake ID. She is due in court July 31.

It has been a tough year for the Willis-Moore clan, after Demi split with husband Ashton Kutcher and found herself in rehab.

And news of Kutcher's new romance with Mila Kunis isn't helping matters either, as Life&Style is reporting Moore is “spiraling downward again” after learning of her estranged husband's “new romance” with Kunis.

TUTORIAL: Financial Careers

Some celebrities worked in finance before they became rich and famous. Some worked part-time jobs, while others worked full-time. Here are some of the notable ones.

Whoopi Goldberg is an American comedian, actress, singer-songwriter, political activist, author and a talk show host. She sustained herself while looking for acting jobs by working as a bank teller, a bricklayer and a cosmetologist at a mortuary.

Raymond Albert "Ray" Romano is an American actor, writer and stand-up comedian. He studied to become an accountant, and then worked as a bank teller where he met his wife Anna.

Red Foo, one half of the party rock band LMFAO, was tracking stocks as a kid under his father Barry Gordon's guidance. Before he made the room groove, he held a job as a day trader. He still invests, though his portfolio has become less risky. He believes that Apple's stock is a big winner.

Erin Isabelle Burnett is the anchor of CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront." She was the co-anchor of CNBC's "Squawk On The Street" program and the host of CNBC's "Street Signs" program. Burnett began her career as a financial analyst for Goldman Sachs in investment banking. Her work included the areas of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. Timothy Maxwell"Max" Keiser is an American broadcaster and film-maker. He was the co-founder of the Hollywood Stock Exchange. He has worked in finance for about 25 years and started his career as a stock broker on Wall Street.

Method Actor
Shia Labeouf
isn't leaving his day job … yet. He got hooked on trading stocks while he worked on his movie "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." Preparing for his role at John Thomas Financial, he managed to turn his $20,000 to around $489,000, extending his midas touch from movies to finance.

Lou Dobbs is an American journalist, radio host, television host on the Fox Business Network and author. Dobbs worked as a cash-management specialist for Union Bank in Los Angeles after graduating from Harvard University.

Martha Stewart made her millions teaching us how to bake and decorate homes better. She started her career as a stock broker in New York.

The iconic Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) worked as an insurance salesman before his famed career as founder of KFC.

It is difficult to imagine Demi Moore the star of "Indecent Proposal," "GI Jane" and "Striptease" as an employee in a debt collection agency, but she did.

Moving up the Ladder
Former CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina, started out as a secretary and then moved into a broker position at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, a commercial real estate brokerage firm.

Brett Ratner, director of the "Rush Hour" movies, worked as a stockbroker at South Richmond Securities on Wall Street.

Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand worked as a foreign exchange dealer at Elders Finance in Wellington, before rising to be head foreign exchange trader in two short years. He has also served as Merrill Lynch's head of foreign exchange. He chose to jump from the high volatility of the world of finance to the more volatile field of politics.

Former British Prime Minister Sir John Major took a correspondence course in banking after being passed over for a bus conductor's job. He joined as a junior executive at Standard Chartered Bank before moving up the ladder.

Rick Yune the handsome, chilling villain from "Die Another Day" was not new to taking risks, having been a hedge fund trader post graduating from Wharton Business School. At the age of 21, he joined as a trainee at a hedge fund. When it was relatively difficult for a newbie to land a role in a hedge fund, he found it "humbling" to be entrusted with so much responsibility. He also enjoyed the role for its risk and not knowing what to expect next. He, however, was more attracted to the calling of acting.

Michael Roiff, the independent film producer, initially started his career in the world of finance. He briefly worked as a management consultant at CIBC World Markets and The Parthenon Group before he set off to produce his first film "Waitress" in 2007.

The Bottom Line
Before the big bucks and glamour, these celebrities worked at regular white collar jobs, like a lot of us. They were ready to work many jobs to land the one they loved. You never know when the spotlight will shine on you! (For additional reading, check out Celebrities You Can Bank On.)
